Eyelash Extensions are an enhancement of your natural lash. It's important to educate yourself on what styles are available and choose according to what will be the ideal size, curl, thickness, length and material suitable for you. Consult with your lash tech and discuss exactly what you would like. Are you looking for a subtle enhancement of your natural lashes or would you prefer a more glamorous look? Also, check out our Eyelash Extensions Gold Coast Before and After gallery

Like all beauty treatments, with Eyelash Extensions you can achieve different styles and looks for different clients as not all eye shapes are the same and your Lash Tech can only enhance what you have naturally. Our specialist Lash Technicians guide clients to their ideal Eyelash Extension set. So every client can revel in lashes that are the perfect size, curl, thickness, length and material for their personal beauty goals. Options for our Eyelash Extensions at Revolution MBL Gold Coast are:

  • Silk Individual Eyelash Extensions (1D): bond to your natural lashes giving the appearance of a natural, mascara look. Individual Eyelash Extensions fall out as your natural lashes do with your lash cycle
  • Volume Eyelash Extensions (3D-4D): multiple Eyelash Extensions are applied to each individual lash giving a full luscious fan effect. Up to 200 to 500 Eyelash Extensions can be applied to each eye

Not all natural eyelashes are compatible with Lash Extensions. Our Lash Technicians meticulously check your natural lashes to ensure they're strong and healthy enough to withstand the weight of Extensions.

Eyelash Technicians

Getting to know your Lash Tech is essential. Research their reviews, their qualifications and experience before exposing yourself to the innumerable dangers of an inexperienced Lash Tech or worse, one who cuts corners on caring for your natural lashes and uses cheap, poor quality products. Find a Lash Technician you trust, and communicate with them at all times as to what you like, don’t like and if you experience any discomfort or irritation

Revolution Massage Beauty & Lash Techs are all extensively trained to protect the health of your natural lashes and will not apply lash extensions if your lashes are damaged or are in poor condition, as your lashes will not withstand the weight of Eyelash Extensions.  For example, if your natural lashes are 8mm long, Eyelash Extensions of only 9mm to 11mm can be adhered – anything longer will damage your natural lashes and possibly fall off immediately.

What are Eyelash Extensions and Do’s & Don’ts

As eyelash extensions are an ‘enhancement’ of your natural lash your individual results depend on your individual hair growth & how well you care for your lashes. Therefore each ‘look’ we achieve differs greatly per person. After assessing your natural lashes, your lash technician will recommend a length that will be simple for you to maintain which will continue to look stunning up to 3 weeks afterwards. We do this to avoid your lashes falling out in clumps, leaving you with unattractive gaps.
Eyelash extensions will only be applied to the ‘mid’ lashes, not every single lash. We apply individual, isolated lash extensions and always explicitly avoid the new baby lashes coming through. If these baby lashes are damaged or their growth is hindered, you may end up with damaged lashes as the new lashes need to be able to grow through to be able to apply lash extensions in the future. In accordance with this, eyelash extensions will only be applied to ‘mid’ lashes, not EVERY single lash as some lash technicians tend to do. Over applying eyelash extensions will always result in damage to your natural lashes and this is a situation that we will avoid at all costs, no matter how insistent you are on having more applied or that ‘your previous therapist used to do it’ – yes your previous therapist may have been able to do it, because (a) the lashes were in better condition and (b) because there have been too many lashes applied by past therapists, it has resulted in natural lashes being damaged and leaving us without much to work with. We want your lashes to look full and beautiful in the long term, returning regularly for infills, thus is why we are insistent that we will not apply more lashes than your natural lashes can possibly cope with.
Infill requirements vary from person to person. Each individual lash varies in strength, length and reproduction. Therefore, the amount of time your extensions will last depends on many different issues including: • how you sleep; • your skin care products; • your skin care routine; • if you subconsciously touch or rub your eyes; • if you regularly expose your lashes to prolonged amount of time in water (swimming, spa or sauna); • produce a high amount of oil; and • many more variables. Please be aware that all of these variables may alter the length of time your eyelashes last & they can only exist for the life of the natural growth cycle of your lashes. Our Lash Technicians are all extensively trained and Nationally Accredited. We source only the highest quality products, have strict hygiene and maintain high standards of safety at all times.
DO try to sleep on your back. It's very important directly following your application, otherwise you may get weird kinks. DO use water based makeup & makeup remover & always be gentle with your lashes. Use an oil free makeup remover only, do not scrub or rub your eyes. DO comb them out. To prevent any criss-crossing or wonky-looking lashes, use a spoolie wand as provided. Close one eye, place the spoolie on top of your lashes, then roll the brush over lashes to keep them defined. DO NOT get lashes wet for 24-48 hours. It takes 24-48 hours for the glue to set effectively. Completely avoid excessive exercise (sweating), hot steam, swimming or sauna during this time and stay in air-conditioning if the humidity level is high. DO NOT pull on your lashes, perm or use a mechanical eyelash curler (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely). DO NOT attempt to remove extensions yourself, you may damage your natural lashes which can result in bald spots. Eyelash extensions should never be trimmed. Please confer with your lash tech if you have any adverse reactions to have them professionally removed. DO NOT expose your lashes to excessive heat such as fire or laser treatments. They are very fine and highly flammable.

Eyelash Extensions FAQs

Eyelash extensions involve a procedure where individual synthetic lashes are carefully isolated one by one onto your natural lashes to add length and volume
- You can achieve long, thick, dark lashes that you’ve always dreamed of - Makes your eyes appear more open, lifted and defined - It looks and feels natural - Spend less time applying makeup and false lashes - Stop fussing with your clunky lash curler - No need for mascara that can smudge or look clumpy - Sleep, shower, swim, and exercise as usual, 48 after the initial application - Pain free procedure - An excuse to relax and unwind for 45 minutes - 1 hour
Ideally, eyelash extensions should last for the life of your natural lash cycle, which is usually around 4-6 weeks. Keep in mind however, we can lose up to 5 natural lashes each day, per eye as mature lashes fall out and new ones grow. The longevity of your eyelash extensions are also influenced by many factors including but not limited to; lifestyle, use of make up products, cleansing routine, skin type, and lash growth cycle. By getting an infill every 2-4 weeks, you can maintain the fullness of your lashes indefinitely.
Eyelash extensions differ to bar/strip lashes or cluster lashes in that each extension is individually bonded onto one natural lash, strand by strand, and not clumped all together, resulting in a much more natural look and feel. Compared to false lashes, eyelash extensions have a much greater longevity, however the extensions attached are somewhat limited to what your natural lashes can handle. Thus if you have naturally fine and short lashes and are used to wearing dramatic fake lashes, please keep in mind the extensions may not give you the impact you are used to. If your natural lashes are damaged from false, stick on lashes, we recommend boosting them with using the Poni Cosmetics Lash & Brow Serum. The eyelash extension application is non-invasive and pain-free when applied correctly. The extensions are applied using specialist adhesive and your eyes are closed during the whole process. They're applied to the eyelash and not directly onto the eyelid skin. Having eyelash extensions should not damage your natural lashes provided they are applied correctly, extensions that are suitable for your own lashes are selected, and they are treated with care. The lashes with the extensions attached will shed naturally over a period of 6 weeks and re-generate. If you are getting eyelash extensions over the long term, we always recommend using an eyelash growth serum in conjunction to support healthy lash growth - we recommend and retail PONI Cosmetics Lash & Brow Serum in-salon.
Your lash tech will assess the placement, strength, condition & thickness of your natural lashes and discuss your ideal 'look'.  There are many lifestyle factors to consider when designing your new lashes such as if you are active, spend a lot of time in the water, sun or wear glasses.  As everyone's eyelashes are different, the same 'look' is not always possible.  Our lash techs will always do their best to assist you with your personal preferences.
Yes, you can wear mascara but we recommend you avoid it if possible as it may ruin your extensions and the longevity of them. If you can't avoid wearing mascara, please avoid using oil-based or waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara or any type of oil based mascara will dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions causing them to fall out sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. Only use a water based eye makeup remover. If you do insist on using mascara, we recommend you purchase 'Poni Cosmetics White Knight Mascara as it coats the lash, does not ‘clog’ them together and it contains growth serum.
The initial procedure to attach the lashes takes approximately 45 minutes - 2 hours for a full set of eyelash extensions depending on the fullness and eyelash technician. Infills take between 30 minutes -1 hour depending on how many weeks it has been since you last set and how well you have looked after them.
Our clientele includes women (and a few men) of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, from corporate workers to Mums and students. Eyelash extensions are also extremely popular with brides who want to look their best for their wedding right into their honeymoon. Majority of our clients however, are repeat clients who want to roll out of bed looking gorgeous every day and spend less time getting ready. Your lash tech will assess the placement, condition & thickness of your natural lashes & then discuss your lifestyle, if you wear glasses & your expectations before making a recommendation on length & thickness. Please note that everyone’s eyelashes are different, the exact same look is not always possible. It will differ greatly from person to person, according to your natural lash growth & cycle.
Eyelash extensions aren't for everyone...you may not be a suitable candidate for eyelash extensions if you: - have had an allergic reaction to eyelash extension adhesive or gel pads in the past; -have sensitive eyes prone to watering, itching, swelling, or redness; - have an eye infection or medical condition that impacts your eye and lash health; - have recently undergone eye surgery or cosmetic eye treatments - eg. Laser, eyeliner tattoo, lash perm; - cannot lie still on your back for a long time due to back problems or pregnancy; - cannot keep your eyes fully closed and still due to light sensitivity, eye shape etc.; - are unable to follow the advised aftercare eg. using oil based make-up and cleansers which affects longevity of the lashes; - have unrealistic expectations about eyelash extensions - the thickness and length of extensions that can be applied will be limited to the strength of your natural lashes;
The difference between each set is the number of lashes applied, the duration of the appointment, and the price. The longer the appointment time, the more lashes we are able to apply. A fuller set does not necessarily equal longer and thicker lashes applied, but rather more lashes applied - so in a word, the difference is volume. A greater number of lashes applied means it will stay looking fuller for longer as well - when you lose 10 lashes off a Mini set it will be quite noticeable, whereas 10 lashes off a full set would not be so noticeable. Other deciding factors may include whether it is for everyday or a special occasion, your usual eye make-up routine, the volume of your natural lashes, time available and budget.
Please ensure all traces of eye make-up is removed with an oil-free cleanser before you arrive for the application. If you choose to get your lashes tinted, they must be done a few days prior to the lash appointment. If you have previously received an eye perm treatment, you will need to wait at least 3 months until the extensions can be applied. Please avoid using an eyelash curler on your lashes on the day of your appointment, and if you are sensitive to caffeine, avoid caffeinated drinks prior. As you cannot get your eye area wet for 24 hours after the application, it may be a good idea to gym, shower or wash your hair beforehand.
Avoid all forms of extreme humidity for 48 hours afterwards, such as saunas, steam facials and even hot baths. As they are very fine, they will also easily singe if near fire or if you have any laser treatments on your face.
- To allow the glue to dry completely, the lashes must not get wet for 24 hours after the application. During this time you should strictly avoid washing your face, swimming, sweat inducing exercise, and touching your new lashes. - Avoid steam and extreme humidity for 48 hours - this includes hot yoga, sauna/steam room, long hot baths and steam facials. - Be gentle with your lashes – avoid rubbing your eyes, pulling on your lashes or sleeping face down on them. - Do not perm the lashes or use an eyelash curler on your lash extensions. - Use oil-free foaming products to cleanse the eye area - we recommend Tokyo Lashes' own Eyelid and Eyelash cleanser. - Give the lashes a light brush with the lash brush given to fluff up the lashes and keep them neat - Avoid cotton balls/pads/tips where the lint can get caught in the lashes. - It is vital you keep the lash line clean - ensure you thoroughly cleanse your eye area daily using a foaming cleanser or baby shampoo. - To maintain the fullness of your lashes, getting an infill every 2-4 weeks is recommended.
We recommend your lash extensions are professionally removed with a brief rest period every 3-4 months or after a lash shed.
Some common culprits of lashes not lasting: - Oily skin and using skincare products containing oil - lash adhesive doesn't agree with oil! Please use our recommended products to be sure this is not the cause. - Lack of cleansing - the eye area is naturally quite oily. Not washing the area means there will be a build up of oils secreted by the skin, and this will not only weaken your lash growth but make the extensions fall off very quickly. - Not rinsing off your makeup remover - many clients choose to use an eye makeup remover using a pad or a makeup remover wipe. These products contain emollients to avoid drying out your delicate eye area. This film must be washed off afterwards with a foaming cleanser or it will have a similar effect to using an oil product on the eyes. - Excessive touching - playing with the lashes is fun but your fingertips contain oil (just look at the screen on your phone or keyboard on your computer) and you are applying oil every time you touch the them. Please leave them alone other than during your daily washing ritual! - Lifestyle factors - extensions never last as well on people who regularly sweat it out at the gym, go swimming, do hot yoga etc. You must be prepared to get infills more often than others. - Heavy makeup - extensions also never lash as well on people who wear a lot of makeup (especially eye makeup) daily compared to someone who wears little or no makeup. More makeup means more products and more effort to remove everything. - Lash cycle - many factors including hormones, season and diet can affect the speed of your lash cycle. It is quite normal that sometimes your lashes naturally shed quicker than other times. - Lash design - the extensions selected may be too long and/or too thick for your natural lashes, causing them to twist or fall off prematurely. The design chosen may also not be well supported by how your lashes grow naturally eg. a cat eye styling when the natural lashes on the outer corners are very short and fine. This can be discussed with your stylist at your next appointment. - Please keep in mind it is complete normal and healthy to lose around 3 lashes per day whether you have extensions or not. As we lose (on average) 20% of our natural eyelashes each week, there is usually a need for an infill treatment every 2-3 weeks to keep your lashes looking full & beautiful. - Unfortunately, eyelash extensions are not suitable for all skin types or lifestyles. If you do experience unexpected inflammation or irritation please contact us immediately for professional removal. If you attempt to remove the lashes yourself, you will damage your natural eyelashes. If you experience an unexpected loss of lashes, please immediately contact your expert Lash Tech for a free consult – they are highly experienced and can easily identify what happened and help you to avoid further loss.
